We believe the mission of the Church is to fulfill the Great Commission
of our Lord: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
We believe that repentance is the only way of reconciliation with God. Jesus
Christ through His shed blood and broken body became the mediator between God and man. “For there
is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.” (I Timothy 2:5)
Statement of Faith
God (Exodus 20:2-3; Psalm 90:2; 1 Corinthians 8:8; 1 John 5:7) We believe there is only One living and True God, infinite in every excellence; that in the unity of the Godhead exists three distinct Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21) We believe that the Holy Scriptures, as originally written, was verbally inspired by God, and the product of Spirit-controlled men, and is therefore entirely inerrant and infallible.
Satan (Matthew 4:1-3) We believe in the distinct personality of Satan.
Creation (Genesis 1-2; John 1:3) We believe that God created the heavens and the earth, including all life.
The Fall of Man (Genesis 3; Romans 5:12) We believe that man, in the person of the first Adam, was created in innocence, but through voluntary transgression fell into sin, thus passing condemnation and death upon the whole human race.
Salvation by Grace (Romans 10:9-13; Ephesians 2:8-9) We believe that faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of Salvation from sin.
Redemption from Sin (John 3:7-16; Acts 16:30-33; Romans 3:24-25) We believe that the only escape from the condemnation of sin is through the Redemption wrought by Jesus Christ.
The Church (Matthew 18:15-17; Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Timothy 3:1-15) We believe that the Church universal is manifest through the local Church which is the congregation of immersed believers, associated by the covenant of faith and the fellowship of the Gospel.
Ordinances (Acts 8:36-39; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32) We believe that there are two ordinances: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
The Righteous and the Wicked (Romans 6:17-23; Matthew 25:41) We believe that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked.
The Return of Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) We believe in the imminent, bodily, personal, and premillennial return of Jesus Christ, and tha tHe will come before the seven year tribulation period to catch away His Church.
The Resurrection (John 5:21-30; 1 Thessalonians 4:15) We believe in the resurrection of the bodies of the dead; that the believers asleep in Christ will be raised at the return of Christ for His Church.
Civil Government (Daniel 3:17-18; Romans 13:1-7) We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interest and good order of human society.
Human Sexuality (Genesis 1:27; 2:24; 19:5, 13; 26:8, 9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; 7:2; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:9; 7:10; Ephesians 5:22-23; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between one man and one woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex. We believe that God assings gender at conception and forbids any attempts to alter one's gender by surgery or appearance. We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman.
Membership in Our Church
There are three ways of joining in membership at Sand Lake Baptist Church. All who have trusted in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are eligible to join in membership through:
1. Baptism by immersion
2. Letter of transfer from a Church of life faith
3. By experience - a believer of worthy character who has formerly been a member of Church of like faith and is in good standing and who is in substantial accord with the beliefs and Christian principles of Sand Lake Baptist Church may be received upon statement of experience
Baptism of Believers
We believe that the Christian baptism commanded by our Lord, is
an ordinance signifying
acceptance of the benefits of atonement of Jesus Christ. It is a symbol of the New Covenant. Simply put: believers baptism is a step of obedience signifying an inward change. It is the outward witness for an inward change.
